of Stillwater, MN
Passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 27th 2019. Bob had fallen and incurred a brain injury on April 19th 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Alice O'Neil; daughter, Shannon O'Neil; brother-in-law, John Swensen; stepson, Tod Ford; grandson, Robert (Robbie) O'Neil; granddaughter, Lily Ford; and former wife, Carleen (Moe) Hanna. He is survived by wife, Sharon (nee Hoadley) O'Neil; sister, Peggy (O'Neil) Swensen; daughter, Kris (Dan) Otto; grandson, David (Angie) Bollin along with their children, Bailey & Carter; grandson, Ryan (Jacqlyn) Schoen along with their children, Weston, Cayden & Jackson; granddaughter, Jesse (Jeff) Ehlenz along with their children, Madison, Dominic & Piper; granddaughter, Marie (Aaron) Schutte along with their children, Leo & Maddox, and grandson, Grant O'Neil (children of Shannon O'Neil (deceased) & Karen Weber); Lynn Christensen (spouse of Shannon O'Neil); stepdaughter, Vicki (Jeff) Haberman along with their children, Aaron, Jake & Kylie; granddaughter, Katie Ford & Grandson Tyler Ford (children of Tod Ford (deceased)); stepson, Brad Ford & his son, Brandon Ford.
Bob was born July 20 1932 in Mpls, raised in Mpls and Rochester MN, graduated in 1950 from Rochester HS, attended U of M, hired by 3M at age 23 and was the youngest sandpaper salesman in the country. Later he worked in the 3M film and printing divisions. He retired from 3M in 1988 and worked for Ternes Register until 1997.
Bob had a passion for sailing and golf. He became very interested in genealogy after his first trip to Norway and became a very active and enthusiastic member of Mindekirken Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church in Minneapolis. He loved his men's coffee group, bridge club, and bible study. Service Friday May 3, 11:00 A.M. at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 115 Fourth Street North, Stillwater. Visitation 9:30-11:00 A.M. Memorials can be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Mindekirken, or to family. His family is very grateful for having shared his life with him. He will be greatly missed by all his family & friends.
