Born July 8, 1926 to Dr. Carl & Ada Rollie in Minneapolis. Robert grew up in Drake, ND and moved to St. Paul where he finished high school. He joined the Navy in 1944, serving in Guam. After the war, he attended the U of M and worked at 3M for 32 years in the purchasing department. He held many patents at 3M, personally and with his mother. He married Margaret Harvey at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, St. Paul in 1948, and they would have celebrated 70 years together this August 21st. He is preceded in death by brother, Dr. Orris and survived by wife, Margaret; children, Bill Rollie (Randy Straus), Gretchen Mitchell and Sally Rollie; grandchildren, Heidi Mitchell and Jesse Mitchell; great grandchild, Raeann Willette; sister, Shirley Vosseteig; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 8, 2018, 2:00 PM at Community of Grace Lutheran Church, 4000 Linden St., White Bear Lake, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery precedes the service; meet in Assembly Area 2 at 11:15 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Community of Grace Lutheran Church or Cerenity Senior Care, White Bear Lake.
