Rodney Toft

Rodney Albert Toft, 79, of Lake Elmo, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, from complications due to Alzheimer's.


Rod was born April 30, 1945 in St. Paul, the son of Kresten (Chris) Toft and Marietta (Mickey Blackstock) Toft.


Rod fell in love with Judy (Carlson) Toft while at Johnson High School in St. Paul. They graduated in 1963 and married in 1966. Soon after marriage, both got jobs at 3M and built a home in Lake Elmo in 1972. Rod retired from 3M as a Systems Analyst.


Rod had a passion for all sports, especially bowling. His drive and motivation earned him top honors as a member of the United States National Bowling Hall of Fame.


Family meant everything to Rod. Remaining to cherish his memory are loving wife Judy, sister Linda (Toft) Matthias, children Ron (Karla) Toft, Erika (Ben) Fisher, Jen (Nate) Kowalsky, grandchildren Anna Fisher, Ellie Fisher, Will Kowalsky, Lauren Kowalsky, Paige Kowalsky, Markus Toft, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He's preceded in death by his parents.


The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Boutwells Landing as they created a caring home for Rod the last weeks of his life.


Rod's Celebration of Life will be on Friday, November 15 at Bradshaw Funeral Home, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd, in Stillwater, Minnesota. A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with a short service to follow. Private burial will be held at a later date.


In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rod's name to Special Olympics Bowling (www.givemn.org) are appreciated.
