Roger C. Ochs

Roger C. Ochs, husband, father and grandfather, passed away on October 8, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lydia Ochs; and his sister, Virginia DeBoer.

Roger is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruby; his children, Cheryl (Ray) Vasquez, Debbie (Johnny) Jackson; and his grandson, Bradley Jackson. He so deeply loved and cherished each one of his family. Roger’s extended family includes nieces, a nephew and many other family members. He especially loved playing Pac-Man with his god-daughter, Tiffany Stockwell.

Roger graduated from Owatonna High School in 1953. He then graduated with a BA in Music Education in 1957 from Mankato State and did graduate studies in music at the University of Minnesota. Roger taught in Bellingham, Waldorf Pemberton and for 27 years in North St. Paul-Maplewood District 622 as an instrumental band teacher.

A man of many passions, Roger loved golf, travel, Karaoke, attending concerts, fantasy football and cards. He loved singing in St. Mark’s church choir as well as playing in the church band for many years.

Roger brought joy to everyone around him, forming many meaningful friendships. His laughter and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him, and he always made time for his friends in their moments of need.

A celebration of Roger’s life will be Thursday, October 17, 2024, 12:00 P.M. with visitation 10:30am-12:00pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 2499 North Helen Street, North St. Paul. Family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Memorials are preferred to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Music Fund.
