Ron Mortenson

d. December 26, 2014

Ronald Mortenson, son of Ruth and Marvin Mortenson, was born in Marshall, Minnesota, on December 1, 1946. Ron passed away suddenly on December 26, 2014 at age 68.

Ron graduated from Windom High School in 1965. An active band member, Ron played first chair trombone and still would pull the old slide out periodically to show he still had it. Ron was an excellent dancer, being part of the Sunderman School of Dance as a youth. He attended Macalester College and Minnesota State University Mankato where he obtained a B.S. Degree in Secondary Education.

Ron spent most of his working years counselling and guiding youth through the juvenile justice and social service systems. He volunteered in many youth organizations locally and nationally, and was a tireless worker for their cause.

For the last 14 years Ron was working for the Wilder Foundation. He was a mentor to many and will be greatly missed.

Ron had a very strong and endearing relationship with the Native American Community and was a Pipe Carrier.

Ron is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Roger and Elizabeth, nephew Samuel, niece Amanda, many cousins, and a large circle of friends.

Ron always ended his emails with one word:
"Enjoy."
