Age 86, of Stillwater
Ronald was born on December 25, 1933 in Fort Totten, NY to Sophie and Andrew Zaniewski.
He led a life believing in fellowship, friendship and lots of laughter.
On Governor and Staten Islands, he was educated, gained skills in swimming, found adventures through mischievous friends and enjoyed family visits with many relatives and grand oceanic fishing with his dad.
Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving his country, he continued his competitive swimming abilities and traveled to Germany and other European countries. His skills allowed Ron and the team to earn many trophies and awards. During his service time, Ron was briefly considered for a place on the Olympic team.
After 4 years of service, Ron enrolled at Gustavus Adolphus College, where he was a member of the GAC swim team. The squad was undefeated. Ron earned a degree in Biology and Earth Science., with a minor in Phy Ed. In 2000, Ron was inducted into the Gustavus Hall of Fame.
After college, Ron taught at Stillwater Junior High, and retired after 32 years. In that time, Ron coached a successful swim team for 14 years earning 121 wins!
Ron loved to garden, can, cook, fish, and sharing his yummy soup with family and friends.
He told jokes to anyone who would listen, and was proud of his Polish heritage.
Ron passed away peacefully on October 28, 2020, and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Eloise; children, Lisa (Grozio) Blevins, Kyle (Dani) Olinski; grandchildren, Jack, Annika, Parks, Geno, Chad, and Cody -spouses and children.
Service: Saturday, November 7, 2:30 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater.
Memorials preferred to Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Stillwater, MN or Gustavus Adolphus College.
