Rosemary (Kress) Wojcik, age 87, passed away from Alzheimer's Disease in Roseville, MN on November 17, 2018, under the loving care of her family and hospice. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29th at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM, and a community luncheon will be held in the Holy Rosary school cafeteria afterwards. You are welcome to bring photographs and memories of Rosemary and her life to share.
Rosemary was born on December 19, 1930 the first child of Joseph and Philomena "Minnie" Kress, in Medford WI. Her siblings include Eileen (Kress) Westcott (deceased); Conrad Kress (deceased); Liz (Larry) Emmerich; Mavis (John) Wood; and Judy (Arthur) Paul.
Rosemary met Vincent Joseph Wojcik (deceased) through her friend Patricia, his sister, and they married on November 12, 1949. Together they developed a plumbing and heating business that is now in its third generation. They had five children, James Vincent (Barbara); Joseph Michael (Nancy); Mark Alan (Kim); Mary Clare (Tom); and Julie Kay (Eric). She was also a loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Rosemary attended Holy Rosary Grade School and Medford High School. She received her Bachelor's degree from UW Stevens Point, a Master's degree in Education from UW Eau Claire, and an Ed.D. from Indiana University. She played clarinet in the city band and served on the city council. She served on the Medford Board of Education and the Wisconsin Education and Business Partnerships Council. She worked as a reading specialist and a literacy consultant from 1992 - 2008.
Rosemary was an author, artist, scholar and teacher. She loved music, the theater, art, cooking and traveling. Her chili, spaghetti, pork roast and dumplings could not be surpassed. Rosemary was a lifelong learner who touched countless lives through her passion for education, reading and study skills. It was her joy to help both children and adults learn to read and experience life through the richness of books. She believed equality and progress for the good of all, demonstrating these qualities in countless ways throughout her life. Rosemary, we love you! We will miss you dearly.
