Ruth Downing

Ruth Marie Downing, age 90 of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully September 3rd, 2018. Ruth was the ultimate mom, grandma, great-grandma, wife, and friend. She was always willing to do anything or go anywhere, loved to travel, was the number one fan and hardly ever missed family member performances or games. Ruth was also very proud of her work as a Medical Technician. She was a wonderful storyteller and a wise, supportive confidante. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; and son, John. She is survived by her children, Mary (Daniel) Caruso, Mark (Cara), and Matt (Kristina); grandchildren, Tony (Natalie) Caruso, Rachel Caruso (Steve von Fange), Sara (Tom) Brennan, Maddy and Olivia Downing; Elia and Michelle Downing; great-grandchildren, Vincent and Isabella Caruso, Caleb and Emily von Fange, and Luca and Cecelia Brennan, as well as many other loving family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 7th, 2018, 11:00 AM at OUR LADY OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5426 12th Ave. S, Minneapolis, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church, as well as Thursday, September 6th, 5:00-8:00 PM at BRADSHAW, 3131 Minnehaha Ave. S., Minneapolis. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Tuesday, September 11th, 10:35 AM, meet in Assembly Area #6. Memorials preferred to the Walker Methodist Activities Fund.
