Ruth Quick

September 23, 1922 — September 21, 2016

Ruth Avis Quick entered peacefully into eternity, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 (two days short of her 94th birthday), in the presence of her family. Ruth was born to Carl and Esther Wahlin on September 23, 1922, and grew up near Fosston, MN. After completing the 8th grade, Ruth served as a "mother's helper" for families in the surrounding area. She later worked as a nurse's aide until testing to be a Licensed Practical Nurse, caring for patients in Crookston and Virginia, MN, and for a year in Long Beach, CA. She was united in marriage with Earl Quick in 1949.
Ruth and Earl farmed in various locations in northern Minnesota, then lived several years in the Minneapolis area before settling on a farm near Audubon for 15+ years. They then spent about a decade living in Burley, ID before moving back to Minnesota. Ruth's faith in God was a vital part of her life, as she deeply loved the Gospel story. It was a source of strength and comfort through every experience. Ruth spent much of her time tending a garden large enough to feed her family of 10 while assisting with farm chores and often working in a hospital or nursing home at the same time. In retirement years, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with the grandkids. She and Earl also did some traveling around the United States.
Ruth and her family were grateful to share her final years with caring staff at the Lighthouse in Cloquet, MN and the Golden Living Center in Roseville, MN. She will be buried in Princeton, MN next to her husband.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; several siblings, Edith, Mildred, Walter, Alvin, Vivian Peters, Irwin, a brother and sister in childhood; a son-in-law, Greg Remmers; and grandson, Kirk. She is survived by one sister, Fern Boettcher; her children, Luanne Erickson, Charlie (Ardis), Lois Remmers, Donna (Ed) Roseen, Gary (Dee), Mary (Dean) Bishop, Arlis (Greg) Feidt, and Jon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
