On May 22, 2023, our beautiful and delightfully authentic Sam Sylvester died embraced by the beauty of God’s good creation that he so loved. Sam was an intelligent man who loved history, gaming with his friends, being in nature, and making music with his bandmates in Sola Angor. Sam enjoyed blacksmithing, building and paddling boats and canoes, foraging in the woods… and felling trees! He left behind work in electronics to begin a career in native habitat restoration, maintaining and expanding landscapes that people both enjoy and depend on. He is remembered by all for being unapologetically himself, for his witty humor, remarkable intelligence, being empathetic and caring, and for his unwavering commitment to improving the world around him. As one of his friends said during Sam’s viewing, “I expected Sam to do great things in the world. I now realize that he did.” Sam loved his friends and family and valued loyalty. Sam did not enjoy cubicles, capitalism, small-mindedness or intolerance.
Sam is lovingly remembered in this creation by parents Jennifer and Steve, and brother Charlie of Lino Lakes; aunts Diane, Nancy, Julie and Jill, Andi and Lori; uncles Terry, Jim, Brian and Larry; numerous loving friends, and a girlfriend who loved him for the sweet man he was. Awaiting Sam to greet him in the next world are grandparents, two uncles and many others. Sam’s funeral will be at 3 PM on June 5, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2561 Victoria St N, Roseville, MN, with a reception at 2 PM, and a dinner to follow. For those unable to attend, a livestream broadcast of the service will be available here. In lieu of flowers, we request contributions to Metro Blooms (https://metroblooms.org/
