Our beloved Scott Zahren, renaissance man, entrepreneur, voracious reader of all things in search of knowledge, supporter of all the arts, community organizer, mentor to many, great friend to more, left this world April 1st, 2015. Always living large and out loud, we never had to guess when it came to Scott - he talked the talk and walked the walk. His amazing passion and compassion left a tremendous and positive impact on so many. Much color in the world has been lost for those who knew him best and had the great fortune to spend time with him. Fiercely loving and loyal, kind, selfless, and passionate, his wit, savvy spirit and infectious smile endeared him to everyone he met. His was a once in a lifetime personality. And oh by the way, he was a master of the effin-heimer. Scotty knew how and when to drop it with the inflections and tone only he could muster. This beautiful man will be missed dearly, but never forgotten.
Scotty Z's entrepreneurial spirit brought us Trumps, Alesci Furniture, Alesci Furniture & Gallery, the Stillwater Car Show, Paint on the Water, and much more. His adventurous spirit took him to mountain tops, diving in the Caribbean, several outward bound trips, time in a kibbutz, and many travels to be with family and friends around the country. Scott was Executive Director of Hope House, a non-judgmental home with compassionate care, respecting the dignity of people living with HIV/AIDS. Scott's work with the HIV community was very important to him.
Scott is survived by daughter Jeannette, son-in-law Kurt, granddaughter Kinsley, sisters Martha Issaacson, Laura Shurson, Theresa Ellis and their families, along with too many dear friends to name. A gathering to celebrate Scott's life will be held at the Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center Wednesday, April 8th, starting at 5PM, with sharing of memories beginning at 6PM. Please bring a memory to share as the celebration consists of sharing our Scott stories and memories. Following the celebration, a gathering will be held at the Green Room in downtown Stillwater.
