Sharon Lee Baker

With great sadness we share the passing of our beloved mother. Sharon was selfless throughout her life, always putting others first and never asking for anything in return. She cherished her children and close friends. She sacrificed greatly and loved wholeheartedly, ensuring others had plenty while she went without. To her children, she was equal parts mother, father, grandparent, coach and guardian angel.

Sharon was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Go Blue!). While a native Michigander, she found her home in Stillwater, MN where she became a much respected and highly regarded journalist, acting as editor of the Stillwater Courier News and family page editor of the Stillwater Evening Gazette.

She also served as the recording secretary for the City of Stillwater for many years. Active in the Stillwater community, she sat on a number of advisory committees including the Stillwater Library Board of Trustees and the board of the St. Croix Valley Hockey Association, reflecting her passion for both reading and sports.

She was born in Grand Rapids, MI. to Donald O. and Mildred F. (Emaus) Beld; who preceded her in death. Survived by loving children, Scott (Molly) Baker, Todd (Trish) Baker, Kelly (Kerry) Anderson and Ryan (Nicki) Baker; cherished grandchildren, Heather, Andrew, Jack, Henry, Rhys, Vincent, Taylor, Sadie, Blake and Luke; step-grandchildren, Lexy and Tony; bonus great-grandsons, Jace, Jaden and Grayson; sisters, Pat (Walter) Earl of Anchorage, Alaska, and Sally Robertson and her family of Grand Rapids; and step-sister, Cynthia Oseniek and her family of Grand Rapids and Florida. 

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be Friday, October 4, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Memorials preferred to Children's Home Society of Minnesota, Stillwater Public Library or the donor's choice.
