Shirley Genevieve Johnson, 96, died on September 27, 2024 at Amira Choice Roseville, having spent the last 1.5 years there under the loving care of the staff and of her family.
Early on, Shirley was known for her commentary - stubborn, hilarious, caring and loving. Many people recognized her, saying, "UffDa! UffDa! Uffda!" when they saw her - it was her mantra.
Shirley was born November 8, 1927 to August and Emma Johnson of Parkville MN. She was the only sister to nine brothers - Henry, Cliff, Ray, Chester, Kenneth, Elwood, Robert, Donald and Wilbert - and she survived them all, as well as their spouses! "Tell them I'm the last of the Parkville Johnsons!", she proudly proclaimed.
She moved to St. Paul in the early 1950's and spent her career at American Can from which she retired in 1986. Shirley was athletic, strong, hard working, loyal. Her longtime friend and partner, Irene Engfer, preceded her in death on August 25, 2019.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, good friends and with great memories. "I hope I was a good aunty!" she would say. She sure was!
