Shirley Pharr

Pharr, Shirley, Joann,

89 years old died Monday October 26, 2020 with family at her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Allen Bauer; two brothers, Merrill and Donald Bauer; sisters, Charmaine Bauer and Lorraine (Selmer) Dahl.

Shirley was born in South Dakota and raised on the family farm near Artesian along with her seven siblings. Shirley studied nursing in South Dakota and worked as a nurse for more than forty years touching the lives of many people, all while raising her five children here in Minneapolis. She had an incredible green thumb and tended lovely flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed the outdoors walking the lake paths, as well as reading and quilting. She was an avid sports fan and could frequently be found cheering on her favorite teams. Shirley is survived by sisters, Jeannie (Ivan) Fouberg, Patricia (Ken) Barnett, and Virginia (Gary) Peterson.

Shirley is also survived by her five children, Michael (Toby) Pharr, Steven (Christine) Pharr, Sheila (Dan) Peterson, Bryan Pharr, and Sandra (Joe) Freidlund Pharr, along with thirteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed by all of us. There will be a celebration of life at a later date during the spring in South Dakota.
