Sophie Hokkanen

Hokkanen, Sophie M. (Smith), age 77, lifelong Minneapolis resident, on July 12, 2004. Preceded in death by husband, Rayno; granddaughter, Jennifer; and three brothers, Norman, Marvin, and Alfred Smith. Survived by six children, Susanne Miller, Minneapolis; Dianne (Walter) Lusian, Eden Prairie; John (Robin) Hokkanen, Cologne; Tim (Nancy) Hokkanen, Minneapolis; Mike (Sherry) Hokkanen, Ramsey; and Cherylann (John) Saari, Annandale; also seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Sophie was a faithful member of Christ Church Lutheran and its Altar and Evening Guilds. She spent her life helping others, as a nursing home aide and seamstress. Her gentle smile and kindly advice will be missed by many relatives, friends, neighbors, and her cat, Morris. Service Thursday, July 15 at 11:00 AM at CHRIST CHURCH LUTHERAN, 3244 34th Ave. S. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, 5:00 ? 8:00 PM at BRADSHAW (McDivitt-Hauge), 3131 Minnehaha Ave. S. and also A� hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
