Age 71, of Minneapolis, MN died on November 21, 2019 in his home after a yearlong battle with Pancreatic Cancer. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 1, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 3901 Chicago Ave, Minneapolis, MN. A visitation will be from 12-1 PM at the church. A luncheon will follow the service.
Steven is survived by his loving wife, Judith Anderson Glass; his children, The Rev. Kristen Glass Perez and Paul Glass; his siblings, Gary Glass and Patricia Knoll (Lee); nephew, Erik Knoll and niece, Danielle Knoll. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Donna Glass, and son-in-law, Javier Perez, Jr. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Steven’s memory may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, Minneapolis.
Steven was born on October 5, 1948 in Minneapolis and grew up in Columbia Heights, MN where he attended high school. A gifted athlete, he excelled at many sports and played football, baseball and golf. In his adult life, he was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed time on many amateur leagues. He also played softball, racquetball and tennis and served as an umpire for youth baseball. After attending the University of Minnesota, Steve began a long career at Hypro Pumps in New Brighton followed by several years working for National Car Rental in Charleston, SC.
Steve was a lifelong Lutheran and was a member of several congregations. Most recently, he was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church where he met his wife Judith and where they were married. Steve loved singing in choir, serving on church committees, volunteering for the Calvary garage sale, attending weekly worship, and enjoying fellowship with many friends from church.
Steve was a gifted gardener and specialized in growing vegetables and roses. He loved decorating inside and out for Christmas, and could always be counted on to warmly welcome guests to his home. He enjoyed traveling and attending plays and orchestra concerts with his wife. An enthusiastic sports fan, he actively followed all Minnesota teams and attended Superbowl IX in New Orleans to watch the Vikings play. He attended many Twins games including World Series games in 1987 and 1991. Finally, Steve was always happy to attend his children’s events and activities as well as those of his nieces and nephews.
Steven was a friend to many and will be missed by all.
