Steven John Lind of Minneapolis, MN passed away in his home on September 1, 2018. Born on November 5, 1952 to Adelyn and John Lind, Steve graduated in 1970 from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, MN. He enlisted in the US Navy and became an Aviation Machinist's Mate (ADJ3) Jet Engine Mechanic. During his service across Tennessee, Japan, Hawaii, and the Philippines he was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation, the National Defense Service Award, and a Good Conduct Award. After an honorable discharge, Steve studied art at St. Petersburg College in Florida before returning to MN where he completed a sheet metal degree at Dunwoody College as well as a welder degree at the Minneapolis Technical Institute. He then joined the Sheet Metal Union Local #10 and was there for over 25 years before retiring in 2010. Steve married Denese Sorley and welcomed son Steven A. before becoming a widow in 1984. Steve was blessed and found love again with Barbara Gardner. They were married, welcomed daughter Elizabeth, and shared 30 years together until Barb's passing in January, 2018. Steve was a down-to-earth, caring, and entertaining person who loved family, friends, warm sun, and a cold beer while sharing experiences of good times, travels, and adventures. Steve's unique character gained him many nicknames over the years, but it also brightened the lives of those who knew him. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary, sister Karen, and two lost loves. Survived by his brother Dean, daughter Elizabeth (Nathan), son Steven (Erin), grandchildren (Adelyn and Canaan), and many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
