Sylvia passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16 just two months shy of her 96th

Birthday. She was born in Berlin, Germany and immigrated to America with her German father and Norwegian mother when she was two years old. Prior to becoming a stay at home mom and very active volunteer she worked as a registered nurse. After she married the man of her life, Al, she moved to Shoreview where she spent nearly all of the rest of her life on the east shore of her beloved Turtle Lake. She was active in the PTA and was very involved with St. Paul Children?s Hospital. Oil painting became a focus for her and she studied for many years under the watchful eye of Paul Kramer of St. Paul. We are fortunate to have so many of her fine paintings as remembrances of her passion and skill. She was a friend to all, a mentor to many, with a wonderful smile and always seemed to have a cheerful word. She was a long time member and supporter of Unity-Unitarian Church of St. Paul, MN. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred, parents Ruth and Bruno Hase, brothers Bob and Martin Hase. She is survived by her loving family; son John (Marsha); Granddaughters, Sandra (John) Collister and Diane Soucheray; Great-granddaughter, Cameron Sylvia Collister; nephews, Nils and Bob Hase. Memorial service 4 PM Thursday, November 29, with visitation 1 hr. before at Unity-Unitarian Church of St. Paul, 732 Holly Ave. Memorials preferred to Unity-Unitarian Church or The Page Education Foundation.
