William Lowell Green, 79, of St. Paul died Friday, March 16 2007 at the Episcopal Church Home in St. Paul. He was born May 14 1927 in Spencer, Iowa the son of Leonard ?Bill? and Lola Green. He graduated from Spencer High School and went on to graduate from Bachelor of Arts Drake University and the Masters of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Iowa. He received a Bachelor Sacred Theology from Yale Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut.

William Green was an ordained Episcopal priest and a professor of Anthropology. He retired in 1995 after 27 years as an Associate Professor at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. William served as rector of St. James Episcopal Church in Marshall for 22 years. After his retirement, William moved to St. Paul, Minnesota. He enjoyed travel, reading and politics and was a supporter of the DFL party.

Surviving are his wife Janet of St. Paul, son Daniel and wife Clara of St. Cloud, son Thomas and wife Michelle or Rochester, Illinois, daughter-in-law-Cindy of Stillwater, daughter Mary Suelflow and husband Steve of Marshall, son Steven and wife Leslie of Minnetonka, son Frederick and wife Jill of Londonderry, New Hampshire and son Michael of Chanhassen, nephew Joel Klaessy of Lakeville and 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Lou and a son David.

Visitation for William will be held Tuesday, March 20 at Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Stillwater. Funeral services will be held at the church on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.
