Theodore Iii

d. December 6, 2014

Age 46, of Lake Elmo, MN Passed away on December 6, 2014 Todd graduated from the International School of Brussels where he made amazing friends and learned to appreciate good Belgian beer. He graduated from Miami University, Oxford, OH in 1990. As a member of Phi Kappa Psi, his fraternity brothers taught him about , friendship, loyalty and courage (and how to enjoy the finer things of life). Todd enjoyed 24 fulfilling years at 3M Company, where he held positions in sales, marketing and business development in Columbus OH, Houston TX, St. Paul MN and Singapore. Todd will be fiercely missed by Sally (Cressy), his wife of 20 years, and their three courageous children, Alexander (14), Julia (11) and Anna (6) who were the joy and passion of his life. Todd was the Best Dad Ever. Todd will also be profoundly missed by his Mom, Barbara (Bergstedt) Hagberg and her husband, Ted; sisters, Jennifer (Pat) Malicki and Wendy (Steve) Gile; brother-in-law, Greg (Lisa) Cressy; nephew and nieces, Eric, Lindsey, Ava, Elena, and Lily; and many, many family and friends around the world. Todd was preceded in death by his Dad, Theodore John DiMartini II, his grandparents John and Virginia Bergstedt, Theodore and Nellie DiMartini, his uncle William Bergstedt, and the best black lab pal ever, Miles. Cancer attacks, but does not win. Just ask anyone that knew Todd DiMartini. If you were surprised to learn that Todd lived with cancer for six years, he'd be very pleased. He refused to let cancer define or destroy him. Cancer was simply something that happened. Remembering Todd as the kind, patient, witty, vibrant, persistent, family-loving man that he was is proof positive that Love Wins. Todd loved to do anything with his family, especially simple things. He colored with Anna, sewed and made crafts with Julia, fished for the big one with Alex and threw the ball 1000 times for Raffles. He liked to beat his wife in tennis and backgammon, read a book a week, soak up the sun on any beach, body surf in the waves, eat exotic, spicy food and travel anywhere time or opportunity afforded. Wisely, he knew that life was too important to be taken seriously. He was present and content. He did the next right thing, one thing at a time. Todd was never afraid; always steady and sure. And he helped those around him feel the same. A gathering will be held to tell big stories, laugh and celebrate Todd's life on Friday, Dec. 12, from 5-8 p.m. at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd (NW corner of Hwy 36 and Co Rd 5), Stillwater. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 115 North Fourth Street, Stillwater, with gathering one hour prior to the service.

A 3M fund has been established in Todd's name. The fund will serve the family in a several ways- but a couple of primary ones- one being to help Sally with family education expenses. Another is "Family Time" expenses- allowing Sally peace of mind in knowing she has the means to continue providing family time opportunities- i.e. dinners out, movies, events, vacations/travel etc... as if Todd was still with them in person- continuing to be the "Best Dad Ever".
