Theodore Richard Swantz (Ted), died unexpectedly on March 13, 2023 at his residence in Lake Saint Croix Beach, MN. He was only 60 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.
Ted was born in Woodstock, Illinois, to Richard and Judith (Ferdinand) Swantz on August 16, 1962. He and his brothers grew up and attended schools in McHenry, Illinois, until they moved to LaCrosse, WI in 1977.
Upon graduating from LaCrosse Central High School, Ted was employed by United Building Centers in La Crosse for the next ten years.
He then moved to Minneapolis and started his sealcoating business. Later in his career he drove professionally as a chauffeur. Ted absolutely loved being a chauffeur and meeting all types of people. Ted's passion was people. If you were willing to tell the story Ted was willing to listen.
Ted was an extremely patient and caring individual. Ted was a big man but he was a "gentle giant". Ted was the giant "Teddy Bear". Unfortunately Ted had been dealing with health issues for the past five years and was no longer able to work.
Ted is survived by his mother, Judith Swantz; his brothers, Benjamin of McHenry, IL, and Anthony (Connie) of Fort Atkinson, WI; several nieces and nephews and one uncle. "Unofficial brothers" are Todd Carl and David Atkins, both from the Minneapolis area.
Ted is preceded in death by his father, Richard; and two sisters, Angela and Lucina.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for this summer.
