Vera Franc Lancaster, 95, of Mahtomedi, MN passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 while surrounded by family. She was born in Tintah, MN on June 14, 1922. She was a caregiver throughout her life and also worked at Formfit, the Beatrice Community Hospital, and Centenary United Methodist Church. As a farmer's wife near Pickrell, NE she raised 7 children over a span of 20 years and was involved with the Rural Doers of Pickrell, taught Sunday School and Bible School and was very active with the United Methodist Women. She volunteered at Presbyterian Homes in her later years. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, gardening, camping, time at the lake, conversation with new and old friends and spending time with each and every one in her family.
Vera and William (Bud) lived in the Pickrell and Beatrice NE communities from 1942-1995 before they moved to the Minneapolis, MN area to enjoy family. She will be remembered for her joy of life, strong faith and unconditional love. No problem was too big and there was always room for one more at her table.
Survived by brothers LeRoy Woodruff of Cheyenne, WY and Bob Woodruff (Betty) of McCook, NE, sons George Lancaster (Johnelle) of Royalton, MN, Ron Lancaster (Pam) of Beatrice, NE, daughters Kathy Hemen (Neil) of Stillwater, MN, Sondi Bowen (Greg) of Blythdale, MO, and Jeannette Parr (Doug) of White Bear Township, MN, daughter-in-law, Arlinda Kolby of Stillwater and son-in-law, Roger Johnson of Little Canada, MN. She was beloved by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, husband, William Lancaster, sons Larry and Donald Lancaster and daughter, Carol Johnson.
A celebration of life service will be held at the White Bear Lake United Methodist Church on September 2nd at 3:00 pm. Visitation at 2:00 pm. Interment at Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice, NE on October 14th. Memorials preferred to the Presbyterian Homes Foundation.
