STRICK, Verna I., age 88, of S Mpls, died March 31, 2004. Preceded in death by her husband, Theodore (Ted) Strick. She is survived by her children, Jerry (Sandy) of Los Angeles, CA, Tim (Carole) of Mpls, and Becky (Roger) Berry of Fountain Hills, AZ. Verna was born in Twin Valley, MN and moved to Mpls after graduating from high school to attend beauty school. She met Ted and married in 1937. They purchased their home in 1944, where she lived for 60 years until her death. Her life was dedicated to helping others through many years of community service. She was President of both Seward Elementary School and South High School P.T.A.s', founding member of the Seward Neighborhood Group and the driving force behind the building of the new Seward School and Mathews Park in S Mpls. Verna was a board member of the Pillsbury Waite Neighborhood Services and charter member of the Greater South Committee. She also served on the Mpls City Council's Community Improvement Citizens Advisory Committee and was a candidate for the Mpls School Board. Verna volunteered countless hours for local and national Democratic political candidates. After caring for her invalid husband until his death, she enjoyed many years of traveling and visiting friends and family around the country. Verna enjoyed life and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Monday, April 5 at HOLY TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2730 E 31st St, Mpls. Family interment will follow the service. Memorials preferred to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
