Vicki Ann Holmgren died peacefully at Cerenity Care Center, White Bear Lake, Minnesota on October 16, 2023 after suffering for years with Multiple Sclerosis. She was moved into the care center after a stroke in February of this year.
Vicki was born October 24, 1953 in Dr. Ruggle's home in what was then the Forest Lake, Minnesota hospital. She grew up in Marine-on-St. Croix and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1972. She worked at Unisys Corporation and in later years as receptionist at Gold's Gym, Vadnais Heights.
Her marriage to Dinnie Ferguson in 1980 ended in divorce. In 1986 she married Michael Wahl who had two sons, Chad and Justin. Their son, Joshua was born with Spina Bifida in 1987. That marriage also ended in divorce in 2008, and Vicki and Josh moved into their own home in Vadnais Heights. Mike passed away in 2020.
Vicki is survived by her son Josh, step-sons Chad and Justin Wahl, her sisters Cande Nelson (Phil), Almelund, and Brenda LaCasse (Peter), White Bear Lake; nephew Adam Nelson (Jenny), Taylors Falls, great nephew Lance Nelson (Carley), Carthage, New York, and great niece Allie Nelson (Taylors Falls); nephew Ben Nelson (Amanda), Moose Lake; nephew Matthew Nelson (Alena) and their son Jephthah, Forest Lake. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Joyce Holmgren.
A family service will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church cemetery in Chisago City, Minnesota. No date has been set at this time.
Vicki is deeply missed by family and friends, but no longer confined to bed or wheelchair. She is "no further than God, and God is very near" (unknown).
Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Spina Bifida Association.
