Dorazio, Vincent Carmino 79, died Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Augustana Care facility in Apple Valley following a brief illness. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Mary (Shimek) Dorazio, sister Marie (Dorazio) Lanzi, children Laura (Rex) Miller, Ann (Joel) Sandberg, Thomas (Jeanette) Dorazio, Sue (Sean) Neibacher, and 10 grandchildren. He also leaves numerous relatives living in Rhode Island. Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Antonio and Helen (Montecalvo) Dorazio, where he resided until joining the United States Air Force. While serving in the Air Force as a medic Vincent was stationed in Madrid Spain where he first met his wife Mary. Vincent and Mary were wed in 1962 and moved to Mary's home city of Minneapolis where they remained, raising their 4 children. Vincent was an intrepid entrepreneur who started many of his own businesses including selling office furniture, carpet and floor coverings, and his true passion, which was stamp and coin collecting. Vincent had an unshakable faith in God and devoted his life to helping others find and embrace their own faith. He founded the People of Joy Charismatic Renewal Prayer Group, and New Life Ministries, where he inspired thousands of people to form a lasting relationship with God. During the last 45 years he was instrumental in helping countless people turn their lives around from difficult situations and finding peace in their faith. Vincent was a devoted man who cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. He brought many Italian family traditions from his roots in Rhode Island to Minnesota, and always relished recalling stories from his childhood and days in Providence. He will always be loved and remembered as a man who loved God, his Country, and his Family. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Wednesday, December 13th at the Saint Albert the Great Catholic Church on the corner of 29th St. and 32nd Ave.S. in Minneapolis with visitation one hour prior.
