Virginia Conley

Virginia "VA" Conley, age 90, of Stillwater, MN. Loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, entered Eternal Life on December 27, 2016. Born Virginia May Counts on March 6, 1926 in Monett, Missouri, she grew up in Monett with parents Roy Hubert and Flossie May (Cowherd) Counts, elder brother Charles Richard and younger sister Ruth Elizabeth. She moved away from home for nurses training in Springfield, Missouri and Jersey City, New Jersey, and practiced nursing in both Springfield, Missouri and at the University of Illinois Research and Education Hospital in Chicago. It was in Chicago where she met the man who would become her husband, Harold Lee "Doc" Conley. They married on May 27, 1961 and moved to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Virginia became a dedicated homemaker and volunteer, working tirelessly to support Harold's practice of medicine. In her spare time, she enjoyed travel, golf, bowling, skiing, and fishing. She gave birth to her only child, her son Patrick Counts Conley, on May 10, 1971, and motherhood was instantly her new vocation. In 2003, Virginia and Harold moved to Stillwater, Minnesota to be closer to Patrick and his wife, Kendra. In later life, she enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading, watching the birds, and visiting Patrick and Kendra. Virginia was a woman with a profoundly simple faith in Jesus. She was a member and volunteer of the United Presbyterian Church of Wisconsin Dells, and of First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater. She carried the memory of the feeling of a deep intimacy with God while swinging as a little girl with her all her long years. Now, may she rest in his loving arms. Service Tuesday, January 3, 10:30 A.M. at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 6201 Osgood Avenue North, Stillwater, MN. Private interment. Visitation Monday, January 2, 5:00-7:00 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church.
