The Briggs family is sad to announce that Ward Briggs passed away at the age of 67. Ward was a man of great character, faith, and wisdom. His memory will be cherished by his family, who loved him deeply. Ward grew up in Fargo, ND. He obtained his law degree from University of ND in Grand Forks. He married Peggy Rutherford in 1972, and they had four children. Ward was a city prosecutor, assistant city Judge, and had a law practice for 18 years in Fargo, ND. Following, Ward was employed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Minneapolis and had retired last July, 2016 after a successful and fulfilling career. Ward is survived by his children; Graham Briggs, Jennifer Bortel and Bethany Briggs; his mother, Lois Briggs; and siblings, Gary Briggs and Lori Briggs. He is preceded in death by his son, Ben Briggs; brother, Ron Briggs; and father, Lee Briggs. To celebrate his life, a memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall, 200 Oak St. SE, Minneapolis 55455.
