Warren Richard Bovee
Warren Richard Bovee, of Stillwater, MN, died Monday June 8, 2020 at St Paul Regions Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 78.
Warren was born in Minneapolis March 15, 1942 to Vartone (Dodd) and Ethel Bovee. He grew up and attended school in Centuria, WI and then graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He went on to earn his JD at George Washington University in Washington D.C., where he also worked at the US Patent Office. In 1972 he joined the 3M Legal Department dealing with International Intellectual Property.
Warren met his wife Pat (Sandeen) while working at 3M and they were married in 1976. They have one son, Sean Patrick, also of Stillwater, MN.
Warren loved sports of all kinds!! As a young man he was an active participant in football, basketball, baseball and golf. In fact, in some storage area in his old high school there may still be a plaque with his name on it, as he held the pole-vaulting record for a time. He also was quite a musician. He played trumpet, piano, and a mean guitar. In his retirement years, he enjoyed making guitars in his basement shop. Another love was “gadgets”. He was intrigued by how things worked and were put together. He even built a small CNC machine “just for fun”. His interests were varied. He loved to read and he could converse on a wide variety of topics…plus he loved (and could tell) a good joke now and then, from the long, complicated ones to the short and simple groaners. He liked to laugh.
…But there was never enough time. Some projects remain unfinished and interests unfulfilled. Warren wasn’t ready for this journey to be sidelined by cancer. He wanted more time with his family, more time to pursue his interests, more time to converse with friends, more time to finally see sports broadcast again on TV, more time to watch the neighbor boys play catch, more time to feed the bluebirds…
Warren leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia, his fine son Sean, sister Nancy (Jerry) Viebrock, Sister-in-law Mary Ann Sandeen, nephews Seth Viebrock and David (Emilee) Engebretson, Other relatives and friends.
Memorials are preferred to Home For Life (Pet Sanctuary), or Stillwater Public Library.
