Formerly of Maplewood
Died December 10, 2017 as a result of complications from open heart surgery in July. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Tom; and step-son, Phillip Opstad. Survived by wife, Peggy; children, Anne (Jim) McGee and David (Mary) Farmer; step-children, Marit (Tom) Brock and Charley (Amy) Opstad; and 8 grandchildren. Bill was a 25 year veteran of the St. Paul Pioneer Press and was the founder and publisher of the MSP Airport News. He was a radio personality who appeared on WCCO's Top of the Morning Show. He was a member of the Newspaper Guild and AFTRA. In addition, he was the founder of the World's Worst Irish Tenor Contest. A celebration of Bill's life will be Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater. Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Stroke Association or EVOLVE Adoption and Family Services.
