William M. Shegstad
January 11, 1947- November 30, 2021
Southside Legend: William (Bill) M. Shegstad peacefully passed through the gates of heaven while surrounded by his wife and 3 daughters. He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Terri (Chris) Peterson, Janelle (Daniel) Tepper, Danielle (Brett) Lee, his 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, sister Sandie Gertz and sister-in-law Cindy Shegstad and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Lois (née Janz) Shegstad and brothers Jimmy and David and brother-in-law Rick.
Bill was born in Minneapolis, graduated Roosevelt High School in 1965 and married his sweetheart Barbara in 1966. They celebrated 55 exciting years of marriage. He dutifully served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war and was heavily involved in the Tet Offensive. He continued his service for years after in the Army Reserves. He retired as a supervisor from MNDot where he worked for 31 years.
He will be greatly missed and he was greatly loved.
Service Saturday, December 11, 12:00 P.M at BRADSHAW, 3131 Minnehaha Avenue South, Minneapolis. Visitation Friday, December 10, 4-7:00 P.M., as well as one hour prior to the service.
