William Mcdonald

Age 93 of Stillwater,died January 5th, 2018

Retired 3M corporate scientist; WWII veteran; retired field artillery colonel, Minnesota Army National Guard; farmer; author of four books, including a collection of weekly columns written for the Stillwater Gazette. A lifelong learner, Bill obtained his law degree in his late 50's and a M.F.A. in creative writing in his 70's. He loved writing and being in the woods on his tractor well into his 90's.

Preceded in death by first wife, Ann (DeWitt) McDonald, in 1969, with whom he raised four children on their Stillwater Township farm: Patrick (Gayle); Scott (Deb); Deb (John); and Brad (Jane), all surviving, together with 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Also preceded in death by wife Lois Lee McDonald. Also survived by former wife Grace McDonald and by brother Jerry McDonald, Sioux Falls, SD.

A memorial service will be held Monday January 15, 2018 at 11:00AM at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to the Gathering at Boutwell's Landing.
