His dove came down to take her home to Jesus on January 3, 2018. She joins her wonderful family in heaven including her parents, William and Magdeline Spence; aunt, Judy; uncle, Sam; sisters, Beverly Spence, Olive Greengarb and Lorna McCann; and brothers, Vernon Spence and Lyle Spence. Survived by cousins; Delmarie Drake, Mickey Hofker, Eva Gjerdahl; nephews, Steven Spence, Michael Spence. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Yvonne was born on November 19, 1926 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. She embraced learning and graduated from St Joseph's Academy. She returned to St Joseph's Hospital as a nurses aid, decided to pursue her education in radiology and was promoted to a registered x-ray technician. Yvonne continued to grow in this field where she was known as a pioneer and became the first woman supervisor of the department. Yvonne was highly respected by everyone she worked with and received many awards of recognition during her 40 years of service. Yvonne had a family life filled with love and great memories. She was dedicated to share care and love with them throughout the years. Yvonne was known for her great smile, welcoming heart and sitting around the dinner table sharing stories and engaging in rich conversations. She enjoyed the outdoors, decorating her home, reading books and praying for others. In the later years of her life Yvonne appreciated and was grateful for the care that she received from the people who extended their service to her in love. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, January 10, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at CHURCH OF ST. BERNARD, 187 West Geranium with a gathering of family and friends 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church.
