Za Xiong, beloved mother, devoted wife, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024. She was born on June 15, 1960, in Laos. Despite challenges, Za found strength and resilience in her upbringing alongside her younger brother. Her life's journey took her through hardship and love, shaping her into the remarkable woman we remember today.
In Thailand, she met her husband, Cha Chia Thao, with whom they raised three children amidst the uncertainties of war. Seeking a better future, Za and her family were graciously sponsored to the United States. In Minnesota, they began anew. Over the years, Za and Cha Chia welcomed seven more children into their loving home.
Za was known for her unwavering kindness and unparalleled work ethic. She found joy in experimenting with new recipes and sharing her culinary creations with others. Her love for gardening flourished in the Minnesota seasons, especially during the vibrant springs and summers, where she delighted in cultivating produce to share with her family and friends. Za embraced life with an adventurous spirit, always eager to participate in any activity that came her way.
Her journey was marked by a deep and abiding relationship with God. Za's faith was not merely a belief, but a guiding light that shaped every aspect of her life. She found solace and strength in prayer, and her trust in God's plan was unwavering even in the face of adversity.
Her legacy of love and resilience lives on in her children: Be(Dao), Nhia, Yong, Tong, Xang(Sheng), Xue, Yeng(Chong), Toua, Maree, and GaoNa(Louis); and her grandchildren: Claire, Belle, Jacob, Zachary, Kelso, Nathen, Eliza, Calvin, Olivier, Felix, Elizabeth, Savannah, Elliot, and Evelynn.
Za Xiong will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her loving heart, her delicious meals, and her enduring spirit that touched the lives of so many. A service to honor and celebrate Za Xiong's life will be held on August 3, 2024.
