Zak was born in Minneapolis, his family having uprooted from Choteau, Montana. Zak spent his formative years in Stillwater where he grew up with his two sisters and brother. He was a voracious reader and artist. Zak was passionate about expressing himself through music and poetry. His intelligence and wit were fully apparent in his dry and sarcastic sense of humor. Zak was an adventurer having traveled across the country on the AmTrak and attempting to float the mighty Mississippi on a self-made raft. His aptitude was further displayed in his time at the Naval language school where he excelled and worked as a linguist specialist. He lived life the way he sought fit, which is admirable.
Zak is survived by his son Leon; parents Chris and Heather (DuPont); sister Rissy Kipp (Orin); brother Nathan; sister Callie; sister Schuyler (DuPont); and Lucy (DuPont). He also leaves both maternal and fraternal grandparents, June and Andrew Jordan and Leonard and Rayleen Blixrud, respectively.
A celebration of Zak's life will be held Thursday, September 6, 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard (NW corner of Hwy 36 & Cty Rd 5), Stillwater.
