Lavonne Anderson Mathisen

Age 83 of White Bear Lake passed away on September 5, 2019.

LaVonne Marie Severance was born on April 15, 1936 on her grandparent’s farm in Lowville Township (near Slayton) in Murray County, MN. She was the daughter of Merle and Luella (Voges) Severance.

LaVonne’s family moved to the Morris, MN area in 1938. In the early 40's, they moved to Donnelly, MN where she started elementary school. The family moved to Chokio, MN in 1946 and LaVonne resided there until she graduated from Chokio High School in 1954.

On October 9, 1955, LaVonne was united in marriage to Delmore Joseph Anderson at his parent’s home in rural Donnelly, MN. They had seven children, Debra, Steven, Scott, Juli, Wendy, Trisha, and Troy. Throughout their marriage, LaVonne worked as a telephone operator for North West Bell and AT&T at several locations. She also worked for First Star Banks Operation Center in Mounds View, MN. Delmore and LaVonne divorced in November 1996.

On September 12, 1998, LaVonne was united in marriage to LeRoy Roger Mathisen. They resided in White Bear Lake Township.

LaVonne was an active member of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Vadnais Heights, MN for many years.

She is survived by her friend, Michael Elsen of St. Paul, MN; children, Debra (Dwight) Johnson of Pine River, MN, Steven (Jeanne) Anderson of Boyceville, WI, Scott (Leone) Anderson of North Branch, MN, Juli (Scott) Hager of Princeton, MN, Wendy Anderson, Trisha Anderson, Troy Anderson; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; LeRoy’s children, Roger Mathisen, Mary (Donald) Beutel, Todd (Cheryl) Mathisen; siblings, Aryls (George) Pederson, Orville (Donna) Severance, Norma (Claire) Biggs, Lyle (Norma) Severance; sister-in-law, Ruth Severance; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Jennifer Gulbrandson; grandson, Ryan Johnson; sister-in-law, Viola (Stein) Severance; brothers, James Severance, Earl Severance; husbands, Delmore Anderson, LeRoy Mathisen.

Memorial Service 11AM Friday, September 13th at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 3676 Centerville Rd., Vadnais Heights, with visitation beginning one hour prior.
